Services
Rowena provides the following services:
- Neuropsychological assessments, including the development of personalised strategies and support plans. This might be with the aim of:
- better understanding how a brain injury or other brain condition is affecting a person’s thinking, emotions and behaviour; or
- helping determine the causes of a person’s cognitive difficulties, including assisting with dementia diagnosis.
- Neuropsychological intervention. This might include:
- helping a person and/or the people who care for them understand the brain condition and the impact it has on day-to-day life;
- ongoing assistance to develop, learn and apply personalised strategies and support plans to manage cognitive difficulties;
- psychological therapy for people with brain conditions and/or the people who care for them (e.g., to help with adjustment, depression or anxiety); and
- support for people with brain conditions who have challenging behaviours. [Note: Rowena is not registered to provide positive behaviour support plans for NDIS participants.]
Telehealth and home visits are available in some circumstances. Please talk to Rowena to find out more.
Rowena does not provide assessments for ADHD diagnosis.
Rowena only sees patients 18 years of age and over.
Referrals
A referral from your doctor is recommended. Your doctor can help you to decide whether seeing a neuropsychologist would be helpful in your circumstances. For neuropsychological assessments, please ask your doctor to include important information such as the results of brain scans or other tests.
Medicare rebates for psychological therapy are only available if you are referred by your local doctor (GP) under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, or if you have a chronic disease managed under a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement.
If you don’t have a referral, please fill out this contact form.
Fees
Fees for neuropsychological assessments range from $1500 to $3000, depending on the complexity of the assessment. This fee covers the time spent with the patient and the people who care for them (e.g., interviews, cognitive testing, and feedback) and all preparatory work (e.g., test scoring and interpretation, report writing, and liaison with other professionals as required). Rowena will provide a quote at the time of booking.
Fees for neuropsychological intervention are $250 per hour. For people paying privately, a discounted fee of $200 per hour applies or $140 for Health Care Card holders.
Travel time will be charged for home visits further than 10 minutes drive from Dickson.
Rebates
Medicare rebates for psychological therapy are only available if you are referred by your local doctor (GP) under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, or if you have a chronic disease managed under a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement. There are no Medicare rebates for other neuropsychological services.
Some private health funds may cover part of the fee. Contact your fund to find out your level of cover.
